You could make it a point to make staying at home a holiday. Tell all of your friends that you're taking a vacation, and shut the phones off, disconnect the internet, etc. Go to the dollar store and buy some hawaiian vacation type of decorations to hang around your house, and download some island music. Make fruit smoothies and buy little plastic martini cups and tiny umbrellas to put in them. Get yourself a $10 wading pool from Walmart and fill it up and grill outside on the barbecue. Go to a recipe website like allrecipes.com and get some tropical recipes to try. Keep the television off during the day, and at night, treat yourselves to a cheesy beach-movie. Play the limbo game, some yard-volleyball and badminton outdoors. Dress in Hawaiian shirts and buy lei's to wear with sunglasses and big straw hats. Listen to lots of Jimmy Buffet music. Put up stringed lights for atmosphere, the sillier the better. Buy pina colada scented items to hang around the house.
