  1. It depends on what the pre-existing condition is. Some carriers will simply rate up for the condition, some will issue a policy with an exclusionary rider, some will deny coverage completely.  Ask a local agent to do a pre-screen for you.

  2. Go with the larger health insurance companies, and a decent plan. Insurance companies I have had have never asked anything about prior health conditions. This includes MAMSI, BCBS and Cigna.

The only time I have ever heard of exclusions was on cheap plans, usually with little insurance companies, but since they don't wind up covering much or took so long to cover you even thought you are paying them it doesn't seem much worth it.

Having worked in medical billing, I have been on the receiving end of some very, very frustrated people. The nice version of what they said was, it's not worth it.

    Good luck

  3. Your question needs more details.  In what state do you plan to purchase insurance?  What is the condition you are trying to get covered?  What type of coverage do you want?  Catastrophic? Major Med? HMO?

  4. Depends on what it's for, but you just need to apply through a different company.  Not all companies respond the same way to the same condition.  Some will exclude, but others may cover for an additional premium OR after a period of time.

United HealthCare underwrites quickly but usually opts for exclusions.  Aetna is pretty good at covering items for an additional cost (again depending on what 'it' is).

  5. Be healthy with no pre-existing conditions.

Or, sign up through your employer or your state high risk fund, and wait out the 12 - 18 month coverage hold for pre-existing conditions.

  6. Try this one - http://healthplans.my-age.net - I personally have their health insurance. As I know they can provide coverage with preexisting condition.

  7. If you have pre-existing condtions, the only way to get coverage for them is to have had previous insurance (for at least the amount of time the exclusionary time is for) and have had no break in coverage of 63 days or more. Not all group policies have exclusion periods, however.
