  1. Too late, you should have thought of it a few months ago. That way you could have started jogging to get used to running up and down the field.

  2. I just got back from camp and I think the best thing to keep in mind is that if you're out of shape-so is everyone else.

Don't focus too much on how much you're behind-but more what you can do to get your muscles working again.

Your muscles will remember once you start.

At camp you most likely will focus on skills with your stick-so for now work on the running.

Sprinting is a major part of field hockey along with endurance.

For the next three days do both a long run (1-2 miles) and then a series of 20-100 yd. sprints.

Make sure you do lots of stretching before, in between, and after.

Also, mix in some lunges, kick butts, squats, high knees, and slides.

Doing things such as sets of ski jumps for about 30 seconds will help too.

At first it'll seem exteremely hard, but you have to do this to get back into shape.

    Make each day increasingly tougher.

    Set goals.

You won't be totally in shape, but have a good start.
