so i always loved my nose and over the past few months i have noticed i have what looks like two bones sticking out of the bridge of my nose. it sounds much worse then it is but it wasn't there before. i have always had nasal problems but they where much better after my surg in 2002 for a devated septum. now i'm am getting headaches all the time and my nose is sensitive. what the h**l are those bone sticking out. could that be a devated septum? would insurance pay for fixing this? my friend said maybe not cause it may be concederd cosmetic. does that make sence? it wasn't like that before. i have a dr's apt soon but i'm freaking out and more at the fact that this may not be coverd by my insurance. what can i say or do to get this coverd?

  1. Insurance will only pay if it is medical necessity. I also had surgery for a deviated septum and was considered medical necessity because I could not breath out of one side of my nose.

But if you just want to get rid of a bump, the insurance will not pay for that.

I suggest you go back and see the ENT that did your surgery in 2002.

  2. Health insurance only pays for medically necessary procedures. It will depend on what your doctor finds and how he enters it into your medical records.

  3. I have a "deviated septum" (spelled wrong, I'm SURE) and my Dr said a nose-job would be covered by my health coverage (which was Blue Cross/Blue Shield)
