Hey people, i am currently working as a legal secretary and want a totally different career, I live in the midlands but want to work as a beach lifeguard. Does anyone know the basic salary? I have searched the web but cannot find any useful information on this. Basically i want to know how to get started as a lifeguard and then moving down to Cornwall to become a beach lifeguard. Does anyone know if places take beach lifeguard apprentices and how would i go about moving to Cornwall and being a beach lifeguard?? Would there be vacancies down there ready?? Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. first of all that is a big difference. I don't know how old you are but people start lifeguarding at 15. and thats the people who have been swimming years before that. You should probably go to the beach you want to work at, talk to a lifeguard there and see if they know the number of the hiring manager. you should call them and ask what there requirments are for a job there. Keep in mind you might want to have some kind of first aid certification first because one of the questions they will ask you is how far are you certified. that way when they ask you you can sound like your really interested and say that you really wanted to get certified to meet that certain beachs standards. be prepared to work long hours in the heat doing a boring job with boring people.

    hope I helped good luck!

  2. All i know is u have to do like swimming levels 1-8, then these 3 other courses then ur life guarding test. i think .. :)

  3. I know that here you apply if they hire you then they train you.  You have to train in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR.  If you want to be a beach guard pay extra attention to the beach guarding section.  I was thinking that to work at the beach you may have to take some extra courses but i don't know.  As for salary that just depends on where you work.  I know here it is minimum  wage.

  4. First you have to go to the red cross and take a lifeguard and CPR/first aid course. Its usually about a week and it's really easy. They'll give you a card saying you can lifeguard and that you're certified.

    Then apply at any beach.

My salary is 9.25 an hour, but if you're working at a beach and not a pool its usually more.
