Question:

How to get into nursing if you're scared of blood?

I want to pursue nursing as a career, but I can't stand the sight of blood. I start hyperventilating. Is there anyone out there who have been in my situation and have overcome the obstacle?

Thanks!

  1. May I suggest seeing a Psychologist.  There must be a reason why you don't like the sight of blood.  Perhaps you had a traumatic experience as a child that you don't remember.

There are courses held for people who have a fear of flying and I am sure that there are things that can be done with your phobia as well.

Lots of people have fears but I am sure with some help you will be able to overcome this.  I am certain that you will make a great nurse and will be able to relate to people because of your experience, some people fear having injections or going to hospital. Good luck to you.

  2. Get over your blood phobia or change your career choices. I am a nurse and can't stand the sight of vomit. It makes me nausea every time I smell or see. I thought, I would over come my phobia after working around it for a while. Ten years later nothing has changed.
