Can someone please explain to me: how you go about this, why anyone would want to go in the spring and if it's easier to get accepted that time of the year?

  1. Spring sessions just happen to start at a different time. Some people don't want to start school immediately after high school so they choose rather to start a bit later. However waiting next fall could be too long for them so the best time they can join happens to be the Spring Session.

Some people are from different schools and just want to transfer out of their current school. Some schools might only let transfers come in during the Spring. It really varies throughout the schools.

Others, people who applied for fall admission,  actually get rejected and instead are admitted into the college's spring session. Why? That's a question college admissioners should be asked. I can't even understand how some people I know get into or rejected to certain schools they deserved or didn't deserve.

Applying for Spring Session is different for different schools. For example, applications for public universities in california are due at the end of November. However private schools such as USC or Stanford have later dates. So you just need to research about the school you are interested in and call/email/read the information.

  2. I don't think it's any easier to get in in the spring, and some colleges don't even have this option (the more selective ones want everyone to start at the same time, especially if they have everyone finish in 4 years - they only have one graduation a year).  But some people finish high school a semester early, or take a semester off to do something.  To enter in the spring semester, apply during the late summer or early fall preceding it.
