I have a tape with some recordings on it. I need to get it on a computer to record it. Does anyone if a store converts it to a CD for you? or something like that? cus my computer does not have firewire for the camera to connect.

  1. Assuming you've got a MiniDV camcorder you just need to install a firewire card - they're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'll also need a firewire cable.

Once everything's connected you can capture and edit the video with Windows Movie Maker (it should already be on your PC).

  2. What sort of tape.

    I assume you have VHS.

    You will need a vtr\vcr, a proc-amp, a frame-sync\time base corrector, a firewire DV bridge and a firewire card.

The vcr may contain a proc amp and a frame sync if its expensive.

The capture device, the dv bridge that is, may contain a frame sync and proc amp if its really expensive.

Some video cameras can take anologue signal and covert them into digital. These generally have a proc amp and a framesync.

You can probably find a service on ebay that does this.

If you dont use a framesync\tbc and a proc amp, then you will get garbled video that skips and stops....
