How to get more and more rare candies in pearl?

how do i get more rare candies in pokemon pearl. i don't have ar and i need to level up my pokemon fast. one of my friends have all level 70 and up.

get a pokemon with the ability pickup like a pachurisu and train it to level 45 and up and sometimes after battle he will be holding an item like a rare candy or a even more rare item the more the level the more of chance you can get something rare!
