I want to up my clubheadspeed to compete in long drive tournaments.

Right now if I kill it, it's about 130 with a firm 45 inch shaft 10 degree driver and I hit it 380 yards.

How do you create more clubheadspeed?

Thx in advance.

  1. Increase your flexibility AND strength.

Because increasing your flexibility will let you create more speed through the golf swing. But increasing strength will also help you too lose less force on impact. So working on both flexibility and strength will help you to drive the ball further.

I reccomend getting professional help and an proper exercise program from a professional.

    Good Luck!

  2. If you would read below.

These long drive pros have tremendous ball speed along with 140 mph clubhead speed. Pay close attention to the degree of their heads.  6 degrees, not 10. They are looking at more roll vices carry distance.

To develope that kind of club speed you have to have timing along with core strength and flexibility.

    Shaft: UST V2 LD2

    Head: El Diablo 6 Degree

    6' 8" 230 lbs

    Age: 63

       Statistics:

142 mph Highest swing speed recorded

200 mph Highest ball speed recorded

    365 yards

Shaft: House Of Forged Ultra x*x

    Head: El Diablo 6 Degree

    6' 4" 235lbs

       Statistics:

155 mph Highest swing speed recorded

220 mph Highest ball speed recorded

    448 yards Longest competitive drive

    I attached their link below.

The key to making sure that the clubhead is moving at the fastest speed possible, is to have a powerful wrist break. This is needed to accelerate the clubhead in the early part of the wrist break (which should occur as late as possible) so that you can counteract the slowdown of the clubhead as the club shaft and arms line up to become one long lever.

Note that the longer the lever created, the greater the force that you can generate, but the speed will be slower than if you had a short lever. In other words, a person with short arms and a short club can swing faster.

A person with long arms and a long club will not have as fast a swing but will generate more force because of the greater length of the arms and club. In either case, whether you have long or short arms and/or clubs, you can enhance the speed of the club by having a powerful wrist break.

  3. Want advice?   Stop making ridiculous claims on yahoo answers.

Tiger woods averages 125 mph swing speed.  He averages about 285 yards off the tee.

Long drive pros average about 315 with a swing speed of 140 mph.

Come back when you can post a question giving honest numbers.

  4. Watch those who are competitors in the long drive events and see what they are doing which is different from what you do.

  5. geez... you're not happy with 380... talk about perfectionist! i'm araid i can't give you any advice with that...
