How to get music onto my phone?

i purchased a Sidekick slide it has an MP3 player and i purchased the memory card. and earlier i was transfeing music onto it.i unplugged it to check if the music was going onto the memory card and it did transfer the songs. and now when i plug it into the USB cord the red light comes on saying it is connected but it does not show the device on my pc. what could be the issue? it doesnt register on my phone that the USB cord is connected, could it be the USB cord?

i have a sidekick lx awsome phone right... so you want music on your phone ok get a USB 2.0 and plug it into the computer now open your phone folder on the computer now drag and drop songs on your phone as easy as 1..2..3 right. hope i helped and sidekicks are awsome
