  1. I did my CDA and 40 hrs through dual-enrollment in high school. Which basically means go to college. You can go to a local community college and earn your CDA there. But in order to open a daycare you need a lot more than a CDA.

  2. Go to your local community college or a vocational center and ask about their early childhood education program. Its normally a class, a test, some other requirments, and some online courses.  It sounds harder than it actually is. Good luck youll do great!

  3. There are on-line CDA's but I don't recommend them. I've been teaching CDA for 7 years and one of the best things about it is the chance to interact with the members of your class. Go to naccrra.org or check on line for Resource and Referral Agencies in your area. Also, you can contact the CDA folks at 1-800-424-4310. They might be able to help with info on where to go, and they have a list of agencies in each state that help with tuition.

You do not have to go to a college, although some do offer a CDA. Getting a CDA is a tremendous commitment of time and energy but a well taught class can make it worthwhile. Good Luck.

  4. Here in Florida, there is a website called "myflorida.com" that has all the info on CDA's and what to do to get them! I would see if there is a website like that for Jersey, and see if that helps you. If not, the department of education should be able to help!
