I´m finishing my PP course here in México, and hopefully will have my license by october. But I will love to fly in the States, is there anyway of taking the exam without having to take the PP course in the States? My license will be recongized in the States? Is there like a 2 week course in the states to go for the exam? Any other options?

  1. You would need to complete a minimum amount of flight flying hours in the US as well - irrespective of your prior experience.

But since you're already on your way to getting your license in Mexico, you have the essentials covered from a practical standpoint. For getting your license in the US, I recommend you check out Nathan Hopkins guide on US Flying Schools.

It covers options to get your license through alternative means and ways to convert your existing flying hours into a certification opportunity. It's an option that worked for my brother in CA.

  2. You caqn fly in the US with a MExico issued Private Pilot Certificate as long as the aircraft has a Mexican Registration Number.

If you want to fly US registered aircraft in the US, you have to take a written test covering the regulations and the FAA will issue you a Private Pilot Certificate based on the Mexican Certificate. Both will have to be in your posession when flying.

FAA PArt 61.75 is the regulation covering the requirements. You can read it at:

    Good luck
