I have a samsung miniDV camcorder, and i am doing a project for my media studies that requires i upload my film to a computer for editing.

The given booklet tells me that it needs to be set in Video mode, and gives me the option of VR or Video mode, but when i got to change it, it wont allow me to change to Video mode, and only VR mode.

This is seriously getting on my B**ls and i need this done as soon as possible, so can anyone help, please?

im using sony 1.4GB DVD+RW discs if that helps at all?

  1. If you're using DVDs then you haven't got a MiniDV camcorder - they record to tape.  To transfer your footage to a PC you need to fnalise the disc in the camera, put the disc in your PC (if it's got a tray loading DVD drive - if it's slot loading you can't do it) and then use something like DVDDecrypter to rip the files.

If you're using a Wintel PC rather than a Mac I hope you've got a decent editor - Windows Movie Maker can't edit your files!

  2. switch it to the video mode. the button with a video picture on it.
