we have a two horse bumper pull trailer and the whole back opens out so he has a lot of room to turn around. he loads very easily but sometimes instead of waiting for me to shut the divider he'll try to turn around and walk out. i want him to stand still until i shut the divider. any ideas? thanks in advance :)

  1. I would say use a halter and leadrope and tie her up, then use the divider.

  2. Most trailers have a place to put a safety tie. You an buy saftey trailer ties at most tack shops.

When you lead your horse in, clip her onto the safety tie. Also, putting a haybag or haynet in the trailer will encourage her to stand better.

  3. The safest thing for a horse in a trailer is to be kept in place by a 1/2 length divider, it gives them something to lean against on turns and keeps them comforted...it is also a lot safer for you and the driver because the horse isnt just moving around...I would say put a divider up the middle (make sure its only about a foot wide, as in it doesnt reach down to the floor, so your horse can still spread its legs for balance if needed.) also tie your horses head at the front of the trailer with a trailer tie that has a quick release snap on it or use a lead rope tied with a quick release knot...
