How to get my mom to get me a cell phone?

Im 11 years old, and a lot of ppl have cells @ my school and I want one for my 12th bday my mom said I could get by 13 but thts not untill december 2009!!!!! Help!!!!! AHHHHH!! Anyways how do I convince her??

P.S I already have a myspace!!

Why - exactly - do you want a cell phone?  Your mom will never fall for the "but everyone else has one!" argument.

Write her a letter and explain why a cell phone would help you.  You could say that she could reach you at any time, that you could call someone in an emergency, etc.

Promise that you'll abide by the rules she has for getting a phone, promise not to talk on it where it would disturb others, or in school, or whatever.

While she's pondering it, be sure to do your chores well, study hard in school, etc.  If nothing else, your mom will appreciate that you're mature enough to write the letter and be responsible enough to prove to her that you could handle a phone.

Ask politely, but don't be upset if she still says no.  11-year-olds don't have much need for a cell phone in my experience... but she will appreciate the effort.

cellphones are stupid, and cause brain tumors (specially in young people) So i suggest you wait until your older, otherwise convince her you need it for encase of emergency.

P.S don't you need to be like 16 you have a myspace so that your don't get picked up my child touchers

11 is too young for a myspace account in my book.  I won't let my 14 yr. old have one.  Usually schools have policies on cell phone usage- as in they won't let you use it in school.  Maybe you can get her to get one of those where you can only call a few #'s, like home and your parents #'s at work or their cells.  That would be a good trial system to see if you are responsible with it- like you won't lose it or drop it.

1st of all there is an option to put you page on myspace to private.... no one can see it but your friends who you MANUALLY add... im 15 and i have one that i have had since i was 12... so SHUT YOUR MOUTH

you have to be mature

and not everyone has a cell phone so that is a bad way to bring it up

im 13 and dont have a cell phone but i dont really need one!

just dont sit there and text all day and maybe your mom will get you one

Who are you going to call? I'm 17 and have a pre-paid cell phone and I use it only for family purposes or in case of emergency. If you want one for that reason then maybe you could convince your mom but if you want it just for friends then thats just a waste of money.

You can already communicate with friends online, why don't you be thankful for that? When I was 11 I didn't even have internet service nor did I have a cell phone so you got it pretty easy. When I wanted to call a friend I just used the phone at home and I still do that today.

me- would not want your work to call and say not to come in, go in, waste all that gas, and then go home?

i had my first cell phone at 8 i know is young but it was not really for talking it was a non-flip phone to check the time but i had my real phone when i was 10 well anyways to the point

tell her you would be responsible do the chores around help her do good at school when it start and tell her the positive reasons like for emergencys to check the time and to text incase something goes wrong =]
