Question:

How to get my saskatoon plant to produce berry ?

I leave in France. A couple of years ago, i was given some saskatoon plant (western canadian blueberries). 2 years have come by, and there is still no flower. Can anyone give information on this plant and/or growing technics ?

  1. Had to look up Saskatoon, great name! I know Amelanchier alnifolia as Seviceberry or June Berry.

    Don't know how old your starter plants were, but it could take up to five years from seed. Since they want a rich loamy acidic soil. Use a Camellia or Azalea fertilizer, or a high bloom with soil sulfur or another pH adjustor. Goal 5.6 pH.

  2. You must water them frequently because they normally grow in areas near water.

  3. It appears you have been conned. I used to live in France, Lot district, the garden centres are notoriously bad.
