Football tryouts are starting very soon and i've been training alot of the Summer. I'm average height and weight so it's hard to stick out. What are some ways to get the coach to notice me. I know the basic ways like come first in sprints and do good in tryouts but is there anything else less obvious I can do?

  1. Run the length of the field naked and when you get to the other end, pick up some pom poms and start doing high kicks.

Believe me, he will notice you.

  2. it really doesnt matter weight its about skill....the same thing is going on with me but im still gonna do my best

    good luck

  3. make a spectaculer play

  4. Make great plays, but don't mope around when you make bad ones. Put in the extra work, fight for the extra yard (if on offense). Show alot of heart. Go at every play/scrimmage with all you got.

  5. Let's assume you can't get become 6'7", 265, and run a 4.2 40.

All you can do is work with what you've got.  Work like h**l and use your head.  The second thing could be your ticket.  Have a good attitude and absorb what the coaches tell you.  Try not to have them tell you anything twice.  Don't get stupid penalties (offsides, unsportsmanlike conduct, flagrant facemask, etc.)  Most of all, don't ever give up.

Former Arizona State coach Frank Kush told a story of a marginal tight end he recruited who shouldn't have made his team, but his attitude was so great, work ethic so strong, and applied what he learned so well he couldn't get him off the field.  He got the most out of what he had and was wound up beating a lot of much more talented players.

In the end, it's about results.  Did you get it done?
