How to get noticed...musically?

ok so im a lead singer in a band and were really good. ive been singing for a while...its my passion. I really wanna get noticed...like you know, for a record deal? or to become famous?? any ideas on how to start?? places to go?? please dont be mean! thanks! :)

myspace works wonders! :-D

Add random people but before you click the Add Friend link, send that person a message and explain that you have music that you would like him or her to check out and if he or she likes it, then to add you. Be nice.

Book gigs and tell people to go see you as well.

Just play as many gigs as you can

and make a band myspace, that gets music out pretty quickly.

Make a demo.  Find record labels that put out music you like.  Send them a demo with a promo photo and a bio.  Follow up by calling the record label and asking them if they've listened.

Also, play shows all the time.  Everywhere.  Every show.  Go on tour.  Try to open for locally popular bands.  Just keep playing live.
