  1. Try this: Lay the blanket out flat. sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface (you don't have to get the baking soda on every part of the blanket....just sprinkle here and there.)  Next, fold  or roll up the blanket so the baking soda is contained. Place in a large plastic bag. Tie the bag closed and let sit for 3 days. The odor should be gone after this treatment. The baking soda will not harm the blanket or discolor it . Good luck! Let me know how it went.

  2. A bit of summer sunlight would do no harm.

Once you try any of the suggestions mentioned in the answers, you could leave it to dry in sunlight.

  3. add borax and 1 capful of bleach to your regular laundry routine and it will take the smell out of just about anything.

  4. Fill washer with cold water

dump in a CAN of coke

and wash as usual without soap

    hang to dry

  5. Your best answer would be to use a pretreatner as well as washing powder and conditionar if yuu put it through the wash.

If it's meant to be washed by hand, don't worry, just wash it on a very low heat.

When buying a pretreatner, if the blanket is not white, make sure it's non-bio.

    Hope this helps :)

  6. ask your dry cleaner...i would be learly of putting that in the washing machine...a dry cleaner might be able to take the smell out without the worry of damage to the blanket

  7. I have purchased lots of vintage items like purses, books, etc. that, sometimes, have an old musty odor. I usually just hang them up in an open window, out of the direct sunlight, and leave them there for a few days. This usually works.

Also, if you don't want to wash the blanket, you could try spraying it with a light misting of Febreze. You might want to test it on a small inconspicuous part of the blanket first to make sure it won't damage it.

If you do want to wash it, I would treat like any other baby blanket and wash it in dreft or some other brand of baby safe detergent.

  8. um....wash it? if not in the machine, you could hand wash it. or get it dry cleaned. come on, its not too hard to figure out. if its really fragile hand wash it with ivory soap

  9. It would probably be best if you hand wash it. If yarn was use to make it.

Soak it in some baking soda or little bit of fabric softener will work.
