How to get on the news?

How would you get featured on the news? Does anyone know the general criteria a story or subject has to meet for it to be reported? Not just local news but also like fox and cnn.

I'd love to be interviewed about my company which is pretty interesting, Shoot I'd settle for just them reporting it not even an interview... just a headline or some such with our name up there.
