Be extreme...  what ever the case is about, be extreme... if it is about drunk driving, make it clear you HATE drunk drivers...  if it's about murder, make sure they know you are pro death penalty... whatever the case is about, be extreme, that way the lawyers will NEVER pick you because they don't think they can sway your beliefs to benefit thier client...  

Or you could just be a responsible American citizen and do your duty...

I wouldn't lie about being a student or pregnant, they tend to look down on perjury...

There is a reason you are asked to participate in a jury - it is so that ALL people get equal chances, instead of having juries made only of those who want to be there.

The last time I went to Voir Dire in a criminal case the judge asked a woman if she could presume the defendant was innocent unless the prosecution proved otherwise. Her response: "I'm inclined to believe that where there is smoke there is fire." And she was out of there. I'll never know if she said it because she didn't want to serve or because she really believed it. But it got her out instantly.

You want to be somewhat subtle or you can be found in contempt of court.
