Well...a career in that field can give a very interesting reputation but its not a job where you can get educated in the field. You would first have to get your name out so the public can recognize you as a individual with a paranormal proffession. Things that can help is (if you have the knowledge and money) , buy a building and tell your friends to tell others/make a website/ or put in add in the paper.

Depends on the discipline you are following. If you are talking about government job, get involved with the online groups they'll find you. Same goes for private (paying) groups.

Do your practice in such a way that the results can be verified. See if someone in the field will let you work with them.

Keep records of your successes and failures when possible.

good question!!!  I love doing paranormal stuff, and it would make a great career, but I don't know how to get started in the field.  I'll keep checking back on this!

This paranormal society is based in Warwick, Rhode Island, so you may have to drive a little. It's called The Atlantic Paranormal Society (T.A.P.S.). The founders are Jason Hawes, and Grant Wilson, and they have there own T.V. show called 'Ghost Hunters'.

You can occupy yourself in any way you see fit.  However, if you're seeking a profession in a paranormal pursuit that will pay your bills, you probably aren't going to find it.  You could be a researcher, but then you would be required to earn the credentials necessary to qualify for a grant.

At this point in time there are really no "jobs" in the field of paranormal research. It's people who dedicate their own time and money to find proof one way or the other.

Find a paranormal investigation team in your area and ask them for a job and ask how much they pay their employees.

You can also contact the many directors of paranormal societies that answer here and ask for a job. Be sure to find out how much they pay.

You are very mistaken. There are no jobs in the Paranormal Field. It is a hobby where normal people like to go and see if they can find anything to document. They do call themselves "Professionals" which is deceiving and I thinking a little dishonest because they are  deliberately deceiving people who are not aware that they are just hobbyist.

I am a paranormal investigator myself but I have been preaching  honesty in this field and have been a lone voice.

Almost all the invesitagtors who claim they are legitimate will say DO NOT CHARGE FOR INVESTIGATIONS EVER. If you do not charge then there is no money to be made except in the selling of  t shirts, mugs and the like to  earn money to justify using the word "Professional". the money in this field is made by those who can market themselves and sell and write boks theories, lesson and offer Paranormal and ghost hunter certifications using their methods etc.

In fact most legitimate investigators warn people to not pay to have someone come and investigate for ghosts and paranormal because most who charge are scammers and dishonest.

look around if these were real "Professions" with employees earning a living off this interest then you would not see so many here on Y/A asking for members to join their team and asking for stories in their states because if they were truely "Professionsla" who earns a living a this they would not need to be on here desperate for members and locations to investigate.

How many Private investigators, Attorneys, doctors, Real Scientists do you see asking people on yahoo for business?

Even professional lawn mowers do not come on Y/A and ask where can they find lawns to mow or find people to hire to help them in their business.

Make one up for yourself.  Start a club, a website, a newletter, whatever.  But there's really no one hiring in the 'paranormal' field - not until it turns out that there's actually something to it.  If you were the first to be able to prove it existed, you'd be guaranteed a job - say, head of the new department of Paranormal Research at Harvard.
