Some paint got on my black stretch pants, and it's tan... How do I get it out without ruining my pants? (Yes I know I should've thought about that before painting!) I already washed and dried them and the paint is stuck on there pretty good...

Thanks!

  1. try rubbing with mineral spirits. then washing again.

  2. First of all, It depends on what kind of paint it was.Watered based or oil based. If it was watered based. you could have rubbed alittle liquid detergent on the spot and then put it in some warm water and then it would probly came out .But if it was oil based. Some paint thinner would have worked .

  3. The easiest way to get latex paint out of any cloth material is to soak the item in warm to hot water with soap. This will dissolve the paints base products. If ti hasnt been on there for a while try tide to go and throw it in the washer and it willll come out.

If it's been dry for a while, try spraying hairspray on it. then wash it like normal.

  4. once you put them in the dryer, it set the paint in.  Your best bet is to take a sharpie and try to use it to dab on the paint to cover it.

  5. I read that alcohol and hairspray works to remove paint off of clothing.

  6. use tide ( it look likes the pen..it`ll dissapper in seconds i think)

  7. you can use thaner it like gas but stronger ,

they use it to lighten paint up,

you can buy it from Home depot

  8. cut it out.

  9. try soaking it in oxiclean a few days

I got hair dye out after soaking for three days.

1/2 cup oxiclean dissolved in warm water in a bucket

drain and add fresh oxiclean daily. also works for that tough yellowing under arm cleaning.

  10. too late, it's permanent now.  You shouldn't have dried them.

  11. It may be too  late to help, but there is a product called Oops! that might work.  You can find it at Wal-Mart or a similar store.  Good luck.

  12. i just had to put my 2 cents in everyones answer made me laugh lol sorry,i have done this alot and i dont think you can get it out. like someone else said use them as you junk pants around the house(i got plenty of those) lol

  13. you should have addressed the paint BEFORE it dried. Most paint is water based and will rinse out when still wet.  Since you baked it and cured it in the dryer.......not much you can do.  I have a polo shirt with one paint dot on it and the stain and the shirt are 7 years old........once it is into the fibers of the fabric you can not remove it.

Since the pants are basically ruined, try a commercial grade paint thinner ( from home depot) and a floor hand brush.........you may get lucky or may just need to keep the pants around for the next paint job!

If you try the paint thinner, do it outside as the fumes are both hazardous to your health to breath them in and the fumes are very flammable.......also, use commercial grade rubber gloves when handling the paint thinner.  Rinse with Dawn dish detergent before washing to remove any oils the paint thinner left behind before washing in the laundry.

  14. white spirit would remove the paint but might fade the material try testing it on something of  the same material unless the paint is water based where leaving it to soak in water or if that doesn't work try baby wipes

  15. make those your "bumming around pants".  if the paint wasn't water based, it's a permanent stain.

  16. Paint your pants tan :)

  17. cleaner....
