However if you can satisfy the Passport officer through documentary evidences that it is utmost necessary for you to get the Passport urgently, rules normally have provision for urgent processing with an additional fees charged for it.

By the way in India recently passport of five persons of a family was issued in straight one hour after submission of the application because they were scheduled to go to US to attend last rituals of their deceased son.

You have to go to a passport agency or (if overseas) a consulate) BUT

You need to bring

Your certified birth certificate

two passport pictures

Some way to pay for it

Your driver's license

Proof of departure.

Are you in the US? travel.state.gov can tell you the nearest location of an Agency. If you are somewaht far away (say Butte, Montana), that is going to be one massive drive into it

carry originals n req no of xexox copies.
