How to get people to call about child care at my home?

Question

My job isn't working out with my husbands schedule so I'm trying to watch kids at home instead any suggestions on how to get this started?I put up a few signs but how else could I advertise it?

craigslists is the best, once you have 2 or so they will take the word out, you have to be patient though , I started mine with 1 child then 2 and now I m just sending away parents because I have no room, if you live in an apartment complex, the mail box area  is a good spot , also at the bus stop near to where you live, try making some business cards for less, vistaprint will do that online for less and give them out, good luck to you

To advertise in a news paper you need to be licensed.

However you can put an advertisement in a news paper in the

SERVICES section and say I'm a loving caring person that

will baby seat your children at a very affordable rates,

if they ask you, just tell them that you will do it at their houses not at yours (the news paper) then when people call you you'll make the arrangements.

Please keep on mind that baby seating it's a really big responsibility and if you decide to do it to help with your bills

make sure to have a copy of the children's Health history.

okay as a mom (and former preschool techer) here's a few ideas:

1- CRAIGSLIST...great tool (especially if youre in a larger city

2- Go to your local playgrounds and talk to the moms (or dads) NEVER talk to the kids that arent with an adult. BIG NO NO

3- post flyer in your local supermarket and laundomat (ask permission first)

4- If you attend church let them know you are open to watching children

Well, first I would contact your local child care licensing agency and get licensed.  It's not that hard to do, and most people will want to  know that you are licensed before they leave their child with you.  Usually it requires an inspection of your home, some basic training workshops, and a few other things.  You can accomplish this in a fairlly short amount of time usually.  Then advertise in the newspaper, with flyers around town, and by word of mouth.  It will take a little time to build your business, but after a while if you offer quality care you will have a waiting list.  the best advertisement you can have is happy clients!

put ads in the newspaper, make flyer and post it at church and around the community, maybe even at the local school if they allow it. word of mouth is the biggest way to advertise tell all your friends and family....good luck
