  1. jog, run and run some more.. Talk with navy recruiter when you get closer to age. Stay out of trouble and IN shape in the meantime.

  2. At your age you'll have an excellent chance if you plan ahead and start as early as possible.

The SEALs are one of the best and most well trained military Units in the world and our acceptance rate is very low, but you are very young and could prepare very well with your time.

BUD/S, or Basic Underwater Demolition and SEAL school, requires not only a bright and fast thinker, but a very fit individual.

Your best bet to gain acceptance into the program is to score well on the ASVAB, which is the initial test you'll take to get into the military. The ASVAB is like an SAT test that you've taken in school. For the Navy we require a minimum ASVAB score of 35. The SEALs require higher scores, but that will come down the road.

You'll also want to be in the very best physical shape possible. You'll want to start running and swimming regularly. Start as soon as you can, even if you don't decide to enter the military, you'll perform better no matter what you do.

The SEALs require a basic physical screening test, which may even change in the years leading up to your application. Currently we require a candidate  to swim 500 yards in 12.5 minutes or less, followed by a 10-minute rest, 42 push-ups in under two minutes, followed by a two-minute rest, 50 sit-ups in under two minutes, followed by a two-minute rest, six pull-ups, followed by a 10-minute rest, 1.5 mile run in boots and long pants in less than 11.5 minutes. This is the initial test.

If you keep in your head that you will make it, you will make it.

The single most important thing to remember is: I WILL MAKE IT!!!

    Best of luck to you.

    HooYah!!!!

  3. When you join the Navy, tell the recruiter you want to do the SEAL challenge. They'll send you to a prep course right after boot camp to see if you have what it takes to go to BUD/S.

In the meantime run in the sand in boots if there is any in your neighborhood. Swim with fins and swing on the monkey bars.

  4. If you're going into the Navy, do something more reasonable. Try to get into the nuclear field or electronics. Besides that's not anything to worry about now. You get hand selected to go to BUD/s. That's after you graduate Navy Boot camp. So the best way to get prepared if you still want to go into the SEALs is become a leader in bootcamp, not a follower. I know i's not what you want to hear but, I was in your spot at one time and I thought it was cool. Still want to do it? More power to you.

  5. Good question.  I don't think that it's possible to prepare.  As long as you stay fit, they will make one out of you, you can't make yourself one.
