How to get ready for university?

I'm going to university in the UK and right now I live in a small island in the Caribbean and I want to know how to prepare for the huge city experience !!!

Make sure you know yourself, and that you won't get caught up in the big city life too much that you won't succeed in school.  It's going to be an amazing experience, but I agree with, prepare  yourself for homesickness.  It will inevitably find you, but just make sure that you don't let it spoil your entire experience.  Miss your parents?  That's what skype is for!


  2. learn to read a map and be independent.  get to know people you can trust to guide you through the new experience.

    You will get homesick at some point.  Work through it - know this is a once in a lifetime experience and don't waste it wishing you were at home.

    be a sponge - absorb all you can while you are there!

    What you can do now is - really - get a map of the UK, London, and perhaps a couple of guidebooks.  Read up on the uni - perhaps there's a place online to get to know people before you make the trip over.  It will help if you've already made initial contact with someone who can kind of hold your hand the first week or so that you're there.
