I have a NATURAL remedy for getting rid of fleas in your house.

Go to the Store and buy some 20 Mule Team BORAX.

Then sprinkle it all over. Carpets, couch, bedding, pillows, pet beds, car, even wood floors. (NOT ON YOUR PET!)

THEN VACCUME IT UP.

What Boax does is coats the eggs ... The eggs hatch deformed or unable to reproduce.

You will have to do this 2 or 3x about a week apart in order to get all the egg cycles.

FOR YOUR PET. Use the flea killer that is on the market or use a flea comb (this is also a head lice comb) especially for kittens or puppys who are too young to have insecticide put on them.

Kill the fleas that you find on the comb with soap or alcohol

Borax really works good and it is safe because it is made from rock as is talkum!

  1. Washing your pet with real soap, like the peppermint castille soap they sell at Trader Joe's, or Dr. Bronners, kills fleas dead. They just fall off with the rinse water and spiral down the drain. It is somewhat satisfying.

  2. Just because a product is natural does not mean it is safe.

Fleas can get out of hand very quickly.

Best advice is to go to the vet, and buy a 1-time room/house fogger that will kill the little buggers...

Fleas can infiltrate furniture insulation and clothing besides cause illness to pets and people.

Prevention:  Use a collar or FrontLine for pets.

  3. This is outright spam, an advert for sodding 20 Mule Team Borax. If you are looking for a natural way to rid your home of fleas, they will be inches thick on the carpets by the time one has been found. Common sense must prevail here, blast 'em with every chemical you can find. Begone I say begone, and  take your spam and peebegotten fleas with you. These are the words of my local bard from Stratford upon Avon, Warkwickshire, UK.

  4. thanks eyJude for your suggestion. I'll definitely try it!

I agree that just because something is natural doesn't always mean it's safe. However, Borax is natural AND safe. I love how ridiculous people have to get when someone is trying to share information on choosing natural over chemical.

All the rude people on here (who have clearly never researched a thing on the mass amount of chemicals we are exposed to every day and how easily we can avoid many of them) go ahead & choose to spray toxic chemicals throughout your home and spray pesticides on your yard too. The rest of us will research the things we use on ourselves and our family and choose safe & 'natural' whenever possible.

  5. Talcum is no longer reccomedded for use on babies because the powder was damaging thier lungs.

So it's made from the same rock.........

  6. I know a couple of natural, and generally organic, products.  You can even eat, inhale, or inject them:  Heroin and cocaine.   I would consider neither safe.
