  1. sounds like you may have some emotional problems and this is why you have been identified as needing a iep. anyway you should take advantage of this and get the extra attention you need.

  2. Hey friend! IEPs are not all that bad. If you are close to graduation, they come in handy at the college level. I taught a college course and the class had a lot of students who had IEPs. The IEP helped them to receive modified instructions or extra help that the other students could not get. So, weigh the benefits before you trash the IEP. You might be getting rid of something that will be a great blessing to you.

    P.S.

Please be more respectful to yourself and others. Please don't refer to people in a racist or derogatory manner. All humans should be treated with dignity and respect, even when you disagree with them.

  3. Wow.

Short answer: if you are under 18, your parents are the key to your being on an IEP--or not. They are legal members of the team that together does its best to determine if you should be on an IEP or not.

You may be 100% right and you may not need an IEP.

Just so you know, there are also plenty of very, VERY smart people who still have individual education plans and programs. In fact, sometimes the reason we educators spot kids who need more individual attention is because we can see right away that they are very smart, but for some reason their obvious strong ability isn't showing up in high academic levels in the classroom.

Whether you're on an IEP or not, you have a right to advocate for yourself for the best educational setting for yourself. Just because you have an IEP does *NOT* mean you automatically have to be in a particular class! Please talk to parents and/or to a grownup at school whom you trust. Tell them about your frustration and that you think you'd do much better in a different setting.

    You deserve the best,

  4. First off, how old are you?  If you are under eight-teen, then you need your parent's assistance or a guardian's help.  Talk to your parents.  Have them talk to the district as to details of IEP and why they see you need it.  If it's a logical reasoning, then do it!  Your parents would never let anything bad happen.  Take care.

  5. Unless you are 18 years old and can sign for yourself, you and your parents need to meet with the Special Ed team and modify the IEP so that you no longer have one. Just be aware though IEPs are in place for kids with all different disabilities, not just ones that affect learning. You may be on one because of emotional or behavioral problems. Ask to look at your IEP before you decide you don't want one anymore, you may be giving up some accomadations that you actually need to be succesful in the classroom. You can always opt out of the resource room or study hall that you are in, if your grades are consistently good.

  6. Schools and parents have federal laws to follow when it comes to IEP's  (special ed)

Your parents have to address this issue. And all they have to do is write a letter to district sepcial ed director stating they want you out.

Did the school do testing on you before they give you an IEP? They were suppose to, and your parents were suppose to sign a form giving them permission to do the testing.

If they didn't do any of this, legally you are NOT in special ed and can use all this to easily get out.

But like I said, even if the school DID do testing, all your parents have to do is write and say they want you out.

  7. idiot

  8. Gotta get your parents on board. Otherwise, the school's gonna do as they please.

  9. Unless your parents agree to this, there is nothing you can do. As long as you are in public schoos EVERYTHING has to be done by them...

But once they agree they just have to give a written notice.

  10. Your parents can sign a waiver to get you dismissed from receiving special education services.  Otherwise, your stuck working with the beotches.
