I install a sound system in my car but everytime i start the car I get this high pitch sound, so when i lower the volume of the radio you can hear the sound of the engine. someone told me that is because I had the remote cable too close to the rca cables but i separated them and it didn't work.

  1. first, check that all the audio wiring (RCA's and speaker cable) is far from the power cables going into the amps. if this was done correctly, then the source of the problem is the stereo. pioneer stereos are notorious for having grounding problems when theres a short or small static on any RCA and blows an internal fuse.

there are several ways to fix this. one is buying a "ground loop isolator" but will reduce the sound quality of your system. radio shack should have them.

another one is getting a speaker wire. in one end, connect it to a good ground source. on the other end, loop the wire around the outside of the RCA's that will be used behind the stereo.

notice i said outside of the RCA's. the outside part is what carrys the ground on them. the hole of the rca's is what carrys the signal. since the stereo does not have good grounding on the rca's, this will fix it very easy.

if you do this, try to do it as clean as possible.

ive fixed several stereos using the 2nd method cus ppl for some reason connect and disconnect the wires or rca's while the stereo is on. usually this will create static and travel to the stereo through the rca's and ends up blowing the internal ground fuse. the result is a buzzin sound when the car is on only. very annoying too lol and it gets louder if you step on the gas.

  2. This may be an outdated answer but some high performance plugs and plug wires are not noise supression resistant. just an idea you might check out.

  3. That's alternator noise coming through the power wire. You should be powered off a relay hooked directly to the battery. You can also find line filters for the power wire at Radio Shack or any stereoor electronics store.

One of the big mistakes people make is not having a good ground. You'll get the best results by running the ground wire for the amp directly to the negative battery post or the engine block.

  4. get your old system in to your car.

  5. check your ground wire. your getting feedback from the altinator.
