How to get rid of a nasty stray cat

there is a cat that has hung around my house since it was a kitten and it want go away.i don't feed it or give it water ,but it still want leave.i have called the animal shelter and they said it was my problem.is there away to make it leave other that killing the cat?it drives me crazy.

The poor thing.  How would you feel if you'd been turned out of your house and nobody wanted you any longer?  I'm sure you've never felt that way.  You have a comfy house and lots of food and everything at your fingertips. This kitty cat doesn't.  It feels so lost and alone that it's willing to put up with you,  knowing full well you hate it.  I hope that somehow this soul finds a good and loving home and knows some peace and serenity.  If I knew where you lived, I'd come and rescue her and in return, she'd find happiness for the first time in her life.  

Try to find her a home.  Do a good deed for a change.  Sorry you've had such a posh life that you cannot relate to this unloved, lost baby.  Oh well.  What goes around comes around. Best of luck with that.

Cats hate the scent of citrus. It's like a f**t to them. The next time you eat an orange, put the peels around your yard. If you have citrus air freshener, that works too.

Also, make sure that your neighbors aren't feeding it anything either.

Cats hate water...

keep a water bottle handy and everytime you see it spray it with water!!!! ......  That should teach it a thing or too.

You need to search your chilly heart and find out why you have no love for a stray.

poor cat....why do you want it to go away? think of it when you're a cat and a person is trying to kick you out what will you feel? i hate nasty people that are rude and mean to cats. i love cats and i think you don't because you wanna kill one. if i were you i will adopt the cat and nurse it not  to kill it. you called the stray cat nasty well... i think you're the one who's nasty here

Are you sure it's a stray? Many people keep their cats outdoors. It might belong to a neighbor. Ask around and find out. If not you could find out if anyone wants a cat, and then give it to them rather than taking him to the shelter.
