Question:

How to get rid of a woodchuck, Cheaply?

I'm not buying a gun or an expensive cage. I heard maybe throwing mothballs in the hole or a sponge with amonia on it might do it. Has anyone used these methods?

  1. Get an old piece of plywood, cut and paint it to look just like a fox, and stick it near the hole.  A neighbor has three of them that keep a big field clear of Canadian Geese.

Maybe it would work on the woodchuck.

  2. We had one live under our picture window and we used moth balls. We tossed 2 boxes down there during the day while he was out doing what ever wood chucks do and waited a day or two. When we knew for sure he was gone we collapsed the burrow and he never came back. I hope it works for you too. We got our moth balls at the dollar store. You dont get much cheaper then that.

  3. Mothballs work well, except they melt when wet, so would need to be replaced.
