How to get rid of ants?

Ants are in my house!! Just in my basement. I have spent so many hours trying to get rid of them. I have vacuumed, if carpet, and swept and mopped, if tile, so many times over and over and over. I already tried ant posion. PLEASE help me! Argh i hate ants!

I use cinnamon, because it's safe for my pets.  I don't know that it kills them, but it keeps them out of the house if i spread some where they're coming in.

The only sure way to get rid of them is to find out where they're entering your house, and stop them from entering.  If you can, follow one, and see where it comes and goes.  Once you've found where they're entering, close off that entrance!

Raid Ant Traps, work wonders. They eat the "Sweet" to them substance and carry the "treat" back to the colony.

Diazinon is an effective poison as well, but is not as safe for children and pets.

put some ant bait outside and inside they slowly disappear

Cornmeal kills ants within 24 hours.  I read about it on YA, tried it, and it works!  Safe for pets, too.
