  1. Well, if they are coming from a neighbor's patch, forever won't happen. If they are a contained patch then you can kill it out, but it will take time.  Instead of wasting money on 49% Roundup, buy the concentrate, never premix unless you are wealthy and can throw around money.  Now also buy a bag of ammonium sulfate fertilizer, 21-0-0 analysis.  You'll have extra after we are done but it's great for lawns, don't worry.

Take a gallon of hot water, hot, not quite boiling.  Slowly pour in the ammonium sulfate and stir constantly so it dissolves.  Keep adding and stirring until no more will dissolve. You now have a saturated solution.  Strain it to remove any undissolved bits and add the appropriate amount of Roundup as per label instruction.  This nitrogen enhanced Roundup works for really tough plants such as your bamboo problem.

Remember Roundup must go all the way through the root system to be effective, it won't work immediately.  And with bamboo, that's a long and dense root system.  Reapply Roundup about 10 days after the initial application.  Continue to water the bamboo, don't starve it as you want it functioning well to take in and transport the chemical.

That should eliminate most of the bamboo.........but I remember going to a client's house for two more sprayings over the next full growing season for touch ups.

There's a new Roundup formula with "brush killer."  I've not used it so don't know if it would be better for you.  I just know Roundup will work, if enhanced and given a chance to do it's job.

  2. Charlene try cutting stalks down and pouring roundup or brush killer in stalk as soon as you cut it.  For Roundup buy the 49% concentrate  do not use anything less. Remember do not wait after cutting it down or it will seal its self.   After about week, after you have cut and applied roundup or brush killer, I would start digging up the root, watch close for any new shoots.  Some bamboo is so evasive it will take your yard.

    Good Luck to you
