  1. I used to live in an apartment and if nearby tenants are not attentive to their roach problems, you are going to get visited, unfortunately.  Roach baiting systems such as

Maxforce or Combat are supposed to be among the most

effective anti roach weapons, because the roaches lunch on them  live long enough to return to a nesting area, pass away, and transmit the poison to other roaches through roach canibalism (this is how they take it back to the other roaches as ads sometimes claim)  .

If you are seeing hundreds or thousands, someone is in violation of a city code for habitability.  You may need to

bomb your own apartment (that means extermination gas, read directions carefully, make sure stove and heater pilot lights are not operating) then treat your apartment with the roach baits.    However, you may have to ask your landlord to carry out an extermination program for your whole apartment and consider legal action, or a move from your apartment if (s)he will not cooperate.

I just noticed that your question says professional

exterminators are not working.    If you are paying these

rascals, they should be using the baits already.   If it is not

working, they should be able to advise you why.   If not

change exterminators, report them to the better business bureau, give them an F on Angies List and consider, if justified a complaint in your local small claims division of

    municipal court.

As I write these suggestions, I'm assuming that

You are  not leaving out food, including dogfood,

having beer parties, spilling any kind of biological waste including baby accidents or dog (you know what), and making sure you keep your trash and your cat  box emptied and other common sense

tasks needed to avoid attracting the nasty critters to your floors and walls.

Someone else here suggested Borax.  That person is correct.  Borax is also an effective weapon and it is inexpensive and should be

sprinkled behind refrigerators and stoves where

    roaches often nest and hide

  2. Sounds like someone near you doesn't live a clean life and they're infiltrating your building. Get some Borax powder from your local hardware store and sprinkle it all along the edges of your walls before going to bed. They'll walk all over it, take it back to their nests, and poison everyone else and their eggs, too. It's fairly cheap stuff (sometimes even found in grocery stores) since it's used for cleaning... Good luck with that. It's always frustrating to share problems in apartment buildings.

  3. easy at !955pm turn your clock back 8 hrs and repeat this exercise just b4 1000pm ,hope this helps. The only other way is to turn them on there backs but dont stand on them.

  4. are you leaving food out anywhere?  even things like dog treats in a canister that is not airtight can attract them.  what about where you keep your trash bins?  those need to be totally emptied out at night until the problem goes away.

Also try putting out the Combat traps too...they help...put them in places like near your trash bins, under the sink, in the garage.

And if you paid an exterminator and are still having this huge of a problem, then you need to call the exterminator back and express this to them!  Mine always stands behind their work and will come back and re-treat for free if the problem still persists.  Good luck!
