Question:

How to get rid of cockroaches??

OK... here is my situation. I rented an apartment about a year ago in August. After being in the apartment I noticed a small bug running across the floor of my kitchen. I looked it up online and it seemed to look like a little cockroach. I mentioned it to the landlord and he said that there has never been any problems with roaches, bugs, etc. before. I understand that you can pick roaches up from anywhere, and we had just got back from a vacation to the beach. So, I just forgot about it, and never saw one again.

About an hour ago, I was in my bathroom and noticed something scatter across the floor -- after I had the light on and been in the bathroom for atleast 5 min. --

I looked and it was climbing over a towel that was left on the floor from earlier in the night. I tried smashing it, and it took several attempts but I got it. Is this bad? The whole year I've been here I've only seen two. What should I do? Will it hurt to spray if I'm in an apartment?

Thanks for any advice.

  1. The cheapest and most effective way you can get rid of them is th purchase a Riddex. It's a thing u plug into the wall that makes the bugs literally disappear. It's available online for as low as $19.95. Make sure to clean really well too.

I had to get one after the gross people moved upstairs and brought their extended family with them.

  2. Spray bug be gone around a perimeter. Are you talking about a man? lol

  3. I know this one.. get some stuff called Boric Acid powder from the grocery store, in the bug-spray aisle... they eat it and die, and it's pretty safe if you don't have kids or pets.

You can actually mix it in with dough and make Roach Killer Cookie Balls lol... Put little rolled up bits in the backs of your cabinets and behind your toilet.. No more roaches.

  4. Gecko

  5. If you are a "Pack Rat" who likes to keep things in boxes, and old clothing in bags in an out door storage area ...Then you decide to move and drag all your storage things into your apartment storage area...its likely that's where they are!!!! Hiding. They come out in the dark... when you turn on the light you see then running for their lives and try to hid again !! Get rid of you junk in the storage and clean and pick up after yourself all the time ! Then Call The Professionals in to spray and kill the little buggers.  Good luck to you !

  6. The best way is to check around your home for possible entry points an do your best to keep them from getting through those areas. Then clean up any trash and food. (even the smallest thing left out could attract them.

  7. burn them

  8. You could call an exterminator or you could use a less toxic method. I suggest you take their fecal matter, make a straight line to where you want them to go and they'll follow it. You know those shows who test myths and stuff? Well they have tested it and the cockroaches followed the scent every time. All this may sound ridiculous and disgusting but it quick and effective.

    I suggest you:

    dig a hole

put a jar/bowl in that hole

fill the jar/bowl with water/glue or anything that will prevent them from escaping.

make a CONTINUOUS line from your house to the hole.

  9. that's funny... I just killed a big one with kleenex lol.

  10. Call pest control.  Find the holes, plug them.  Clean everything inside the apartment (I know it's such an effort, but you have to!).  Most probably they've multiplied.  You have to get rid of the eggs.

Add'l:  Most probably you just squished the body.  Next time, aim for the head!  Seriously.

  11. slice their bodies in half

    burn em

    squish them with a boot

    raid

    cockroach traps

    and an exterminator
