  1. my neighbor does this he puts soap bars like around were he dosent want them and they wont eat tha plants

  2. if they are eating everything in sight, dangle some plastic ornaments off of the tree limbs etc.....they will scare the deer away. My dad tried everything and now he found that these little plastic discs and so forth that you can get in a novelty dollar store will keep them away. SO for the garden, he drives a few stakes, runs strings between the stakes and then hangs the plastic ornaments.. If you email me, I'll send you a picture :) He swears that they are the only thing he's found in 8 years that prevent the deer from eating everything :)

  3. Move out of their territory. They were there first.

It's funny how people intentionally move to places which have deer, bears and cougars, then are surprised and miffed when those creatures come around.

With less and less room for them to roam, then anything you do short of killing them will only work as a temporary measure. Their aversion to things you place around to keep them at bay won't be as great as them wanting and needing to graze, so they'll eventually cope long enough to explore past those barriers. What worked for people in the past only worked because the animals had elsewhere they could explore. This isn't the case now. Best to understand that at the onset.

  4. pioneers  used to tie sacks of human hair on posts in their feilds to keep deer away

  5. Plant a border of lemon grass around your garden.  Deer hate the smell and taste, so they will no pass it.

  6. shoot em and eat em.

  7. Deer have keen scent. Here are some tricks that a game warden told me:

    1. Place a heavily scented bar of soap in the end of a knee high stocking. Tie the end and hang it in or near the garden. I hang one of these on each of my cherry trees and it keeps them away.

    2. Although a bit weird, deer cannot stand the smell of human urine. Get the picture?

    3. Moth balls are also effective. Spread a few around the garden area.

    Good luck!!
