  1. use manual removal instructions

    http://fix-computer-problem.com/rogue-an...

  2. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Removes Antivirus 2008/2009/XPAntivirus and many more:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Quick Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

  3. first try to run a good reg cleaner such as eusing then go to run type in msconfig  when the screen comes up click the startup section and on the bottom of the window click on the hide all microsoft box. let it reset then look through whats left and see if you can find it there. you can also go to trend micro and run the housecall program. its free and can get rid of most things it takes a while to run but its worth it.

  4. it sounds like the virus is still on your computer

  5. Have the people at btexpress look at your computer. The site is btexpress.page.t and it has great deals. See for yourself

  6. try to run the free tool called Combofix

  7. it hides in the system restore as well as other places.

this is how i got rid of it...

just follow it as close as you can for vista..

click on tools > delete browsing history > delete all

    > check the box, also delete files and settings stored by

    add-on's >yes.

    ......................................... next" ,..........................................

start > all programs > pc help and tools > system restore

    > system restore settings > system restore > check the box turn off system restore on all drives > ok

then go here and do scan.

    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

then go here and do Clean up Scan

    http://onecare.live.com/site/en-au/cente...

then turn the system restore back to on...

then create a new restore point as your pc will now be clean.

then turn off system restore again as it will erase the last infected restore file..

reboot and then turn the system restore back to on...

and hey presto a clean machine...

PS: doing this took around 6 hours

doing a scan alone will not get rid of it as scans will not remove infected restore files..

  8. ooo yeah I had this one, flipping pain isn't it.

I managed to find a removal tool which worked so chucked it on my wedspace for emergencies such as this :)

Give it a go, it worked for me.

  9. doesn't sound like you have quite got rid of the virus i had trojan virtumonde did same thing thoougght i got rid but the pop ups kept appearing (browser hijack) i'd recommend using windows live onecare and do a full scan

  10. fake alert on desktop - smitfraud.

    XPAntivirus - rogue program.

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t...

the first program should do the trick.

    tips:

XPAntivirus is NOT A VIRUS therefore an antivirus program will not remove it.

XPAntivirus does not hide in system restore - its not a trojan.

    malwarebytes removes smitfraud & rogues.

  11. I would advise that you first check your add/remove programmes to check there wasn't a programme installed that is causing the problem. Then you could use this free online virus remover, I find it very affective and it gives good info on all virus, mailware and greyware found ( http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ )

  12. 1. Update your antivirus and antispyware definition databases.

    2. Disable your System Restore, clean up all Temporary and Recycle Bins. Use ATF-Cleaner from http://www.atribune.org

    3. Boot to Safe Mode,  [restart, press F8, choose Safe Mode, login] then run your anti-virus. Clean/Quarantine when necessary.

    4. In Safe Mode, also scan for spyware, or malwares using Spybot-Search & Destroy http://www.spybot.com/en/download/index....

    5. Use CCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Porta... This is a portable version, just extract, then click on CCleaner.exe. Click on Registry which should bring you to Registry Integrity. Click on Registry Integrity which would remove all the checkmarks for the selection below, then select "Missing Shared DLLs, Application, Application Paths, Installer, Obsolete Software" Then click on "Scan for Issues" button below. This should clear up the non-existent direct link libraries.
