i got some Acclaim spray from the vets (that what the vet recommended), i have sprayed all of the carpets, rugs, mattresses and curtains with the acclaim spray.

I have also de-fleaed the cats again.

i have washed all of our bedding (duvets, duvet covers, sheets etc).

Will this FINALLY get rid of the fleas?

  1. omg, this has SO happened to me.  cats are hard because they're so independant and wander.

you can buy what they call a flea bomb.  it's like a can that you set off in your house - you have to be out of the house for like 6 hours, but seriously they kill everything!  try your local supermarket or hardware store, I'm surprised you vet did not reccommend this.

  2. I think u are doing everything in your power to get rid of fleas..

I stronghold mine regularly..sometimes I see the odd flea on them...so far 2 this summer and Im in humid england and I back onto a nature park where there are loads of  flea infested rodents my cat likes to eat.

I would get the fumigators in..little buggers arnt they..and the fleas

  3. You know I am not sure. Fleas are EXTREMELY resilient. I know we always had to use flea bombs and fumigate our house when they started taking over. The flea bombs go EVERYWHERE and cover every nook and cranny so don't have to worry about them hiding in a spot that's hard to spray etc. but you (and your pets) would have to stay out of your house for a few hours while they are working.

  4. Spraying will work but get the cat to have a wash as well

  5. first of all, to drewy monster returns...THIS IS FLEA SEASON! fleas are prime around this time, so shut up.

second, i had the same problem you had, except with 2 little dogs. it grossed me out so bad. i used the flea bombs and you should leave your house for awhile. (like 2-3 hours) then come home and vaccuum for a couple days straight- once a day. make sure you empty the bag into your outside garbage. fleas take awhile to completely leave but they will not reproduce once you've treated your house and cats.

im so frustrated by fleas but i recommend you treat your kitties at least for the April-September months. the first frost will kill them all, can't wait :)     good luck!

  6. Its common, dont worry,

Get some 'novan stay kill' or a flea bomb by Bob martin.

    wicked stuff.

Before you bomb your room/ house take cushions off chairs stand on thier ends same with any furnishing and matresses.

Bomb your rooms, then apply stronghold flea treatment and wormer to your cat which kills fleas on the cat and i the environment, but you have to start with a clean sheet first, it wont kill existing fleas in the house.

  7. OMG your house must ming , try getting the cats to stop getting fleas in the first place by looking after them, ie flea collers etc

  8. Try putting lots of lavender around the house and some on the cats it is supposed to get rid of them although I haven't tried it myself.

  9. I don't think anyone has mentioned any treatment for the cats. Best to use is FRONTLINE you can only buy it from a VET its dear but well worth the results and i think it lasts for a month or so excellent stuff.

  10. Garlic ....  has been used as a traditional repellent against flea and worm infestation.

....  making garlic an excellent remedy for treating respiratory problems in general, including bronchitis, emphysema, and viral or bacterial infections such as cat flu and kennel cough.

Cats or Dogs should never be given raw, un-aged garlic ....

Garlic .... is indeed toxic to animals WHEN FED RAW.....but the fact that I have had eight dogs and five cats (without yearly shots) on a farm and only one dog ever got sick when they all got ticks and stuff, thanks to garlic, says it all. The trick is in moderation, and it being cooked garlic. I never used flea preparations or flea collars either.

I myself add garlic to stews, and occasionally let the cat have some of the liquid.  He hasn't got fleas.
