How to get rid of flies naturally?

Does anyone know of a good way to get rid of flies on houseplants? They are little black ones and they are eating away at my plants! I want to use something NON-TOXIC....

Depending on the bugs, I have sometimes found that if I fill a spray bottle with mild soapy water, and spray it onto the affected areas of the plant, it will help take care of the problem.

I also try to keep any infected plants away from healthy plants to stop the spreading.

Try putting dish soap into a bottle with a little sugar water. One with a narrow neck, like a pop bottle or catsup bottle, Make sure to add the dishsoap , or oil as this slimy surface keeps them from getting a grip and crawling out!
