  1. baby oil or goo gone

  2. try using some white spirit.

  3. DEADMAN WALKING!!

  4. WD40 is superb for breaking down sticky glue residue. It's the solvent used to carry the light oil that does it.

  5. Persistence. Use a little methylated (white) spirit with an open weave cloth.

  6. Cif lemon works wonders on that sort of thing.  It's quite cheap and it lasts forever (you can use it to clean ovens and all sorts too).

  7. Don't use ciff if you don't want to get scratches.  WD40 is good or there is a product called "sticky stuff remover"

I would spray it on a cloth rather than straight onto your bike especially if you have disc brakes.
