Question:

How to get rid of my retarded walking/running style?

I have the weirdest way of walking and running, it's very ungraceful and I think it makes me look a bit disabled :( (not to mention a bit like a horse!) I try and force myself to walk normally and it looks even worse, like a very forced opposite arm to leg thing that I'm consciously aware of. It doesn't look so bad when I fox walk but I can't do that in school shoes. So any advice is most welcome. Also I'm not doing it for other people's opinions I'm doing it to boost my self confidence with the knowledge that I can walk and run gracefully without a lot of noise (which I usually make a LOT of)

Thanks xD

  1. who cares? I'm the fastest kid in school but u should see how i run.

i cant run straight, my legs curve everytime i run. it doesn't matter how u run. u shouldn't care on how u run, cause i know that no one else does.

  2. If you want to run, then there is some good news and some bad news.  The bad news is that changing your gait is typically not something done easily.  You run the way you run, and your leg and foot strike are very hard to change.

The good news, some of what is going on can be corrected by either the proper running shoe or orthotics (shoe inserts to correct problems).   First I recommend going to a running store and have your gait looked at.  If you have flat feet and pronate, they will more then likely put you in a motion control shoe.  This may solve a lot of your running issues.

Motion control shoes, will help your feet land and push off the way they are suppose too do.  You are going to have to spend 100US dollars or more for a pair of running shoes.  But like anything consider it an investment in yourself.

  3. I find out at age 17 that I couldn't walk in a straight line.

18 I find that I have a mild physical disability.

    I also heavy footed.

A physo migh be able to help

  4. just walk the way that feels right every body's not suppose to walk the same. if you arches are really low and it causes pain I heard walking with out shoes in side you house helps.

  5. Try taking ballet classes.  If you're not more graceful after that,  there might be no hope.
