My husband painted my daughter's dresser last summer, and there is still a strong paint smell in her drawers that affects her clothing. What can we do to neutralize the odor?

  1. I would suggest a small box of baking soda in the drawers.  Good luck and God Bless.

  2. use kilz spray paint primer... it will kill the oder....then repaint....paint should not smell but the first day....I pain almost every other day and the smell never lasts but the day....u had a mad batch I guess

  3. i like the baking soda ideas, but along with that, what about putting them outside, or in a room that the air circulates well for a couple of days then do the baking soda

  4. Febreeze.

  5. baking soda balls,  they sell them for shoes take the clothes out for a couple of weeks maybe and just put the powder in the drawers for a bit . Or maybe keep them open for a bit in the air outside to air them out. next time buy the kind of paint with no scent.

  6. It would probably help us answer more clearly if we knew the substance and formulation of the paint,

I paint every day of my life and have never encountered a situation as you describe, with any formulation.

At this point, 05/25/08, last summer might be 12 months, and not at all a realistic amount of time for any dry/cured paint, to still emit odors.
