How to get rid of roaches in your house

i have roaches in my house but it seems like more and more coming i use raid and combat but its not working can i buy anything else i dont want to use an exterminator help me please

dont call an exterminator. half the time, they dont even do their jobs.

i posted a link, go about half way down the page (on the first one) and it talks about setting traps. thats your best bet. and just try to avoid dropping food or anything they like to eat.

I used to live FL and in the summers, even the cleanest houses get roaches. Here's some things that worked for us:

-Sprinkle borax powder along your baseboards, trashcans, and excessively in your kitchen. It's cheap and it will kill the roaches.

-Never leave food out. Wash dishes as soon as you're done with them and take out the trash every night. Don't keep your outside garbage can near your house.

-Sweep and vacuum on a daily basis. Even crumbs will attract roaches. And if you have roaches, you have roach p**p.

-Don't open windows without screens. Some roaches fly.

-Get those "sticky pad" mouse traps. They're the most amazing things ever. Only about $6 for a box of 5 at Walmart. We caught a field mouse on one after last Christmas. Poor thing rolled around until almost all its fur was gone. But it works! And they catch anything that walks or lands on it. Put one under the fridge, under the couch, near an entryway, etc.

-Check your attic! Borax up there wouldn't hurt either. Roaches like warm, dark places.

-If it comes down to it, call the exterminator. I know it's expensive and maybe a little embarrassing. But it's the best way to completely get rid of vermin.
