Im going to be moving into a house that has been vacant for at least 4yrs. there was a chimmney leak which rotted the floor & roof , this has been repaired.

The smell in the place is horrible, its like "attic" or old smell, maybe a little damp smell too. theres no basement , the carpets have been removed & it still smells. the house is totally empty , is there something i can do now?. Im going to move in in about 1 month. I need a quick & easy fix , the house is going to be demolished in 5 years by some wealthy relatives , so I get to live in it until then.

were repainting everything, washing everything & still..the smell gets on our clothes & we stink when we leave..HELP !!

  1. There is product called "Natures Miracle"  from a pet store, it works by destroying the enzymes in material that produce odors. It works for pet urine, may help for the mold.  The mold can be vey hazardous to your health, call a professional and ask for their suggestions.

  2. Fill a garden spray bottle with a bleach and water mix and crawl under the house and in the attic and everywhere and dowse everything with a thin layer of this- do so repeatedly if the odor persists. If after all of this any odor remains contact a professional. Drug addicts use bleach to kill the viruses and bacteria on dirty needles. Most fungus's are equally vulnerable. If not, then you need extra help via a pro. This is the least expensive but most effective method that I know of. Good luck, and be thorough. All labeled items, perforce, carry a disclaimer and yet they use the same chemicals-go with bleach. Much BS has been made of mold and its' effects. If a bad smell is the only thing that you are suffering from put it in perspective.
