How to get rid of spiders

last night, I was in the living room researching and reading when I noticed that their is a BLACK THING crawling in the carpet and it freaked the h**l out of me. I have anachrophobia and just a look at spiders really makes me want to faint. so any idea how to keep them away?

Aerosol cans, sprays, professional sprays and being meticulously clean will all help.   Some spiders are good and some are bad. As long as they stay outside I tend to leave them alone, except those that are poisonous.  You may want to do some reading up on your arachnaphobia, as science prooves that one is never more than 3 feet from a spider. Spiders are not my favorite, but some of them are really very interesting to watch - outside.

I try to spray around the foundation of my house ,as well as around the doors and windows every 2-3 months - and I mean soak the foundation and as much of the crawl space, if you have one, as possible with pesticide.  That way most of the spiders (and other insects) pretty much stay out.  Also be sure that windows and doors have screens especially windows that you leave open.

Bug bomb your whole house.  They are aerosol cans that you set off all over, then leave the house for two hours.

If it was a spider, sprays probably won't get all of them (where there is one, there are usually more) unless the spray lands directly on their bodies.  Spiders carry their bodies above the ground and don't clean their feet, so the spray won't get into or on their bodies, which it has to do to kill them.  You might want to try "sticky boards".  The spiders get stuck to them.  Be careful if you have children or pets, as they can get stuck to the sticky boards, too, and that is a mess.  Most stores that carry bug sprays have them.

A bug bomb is a good idea.  Also, try to keep your home free of other insects (flies, mosquitoes, etc.) since these are what spiders feed on.  Keep your house clean, no piles of clothes or anything on the floor because spiders will hide there.  This site has some other information for you:  http://www.getridofthings.com/getridofsp...
