How to get rid of these gnats?

I have little grey-ish gnats in my house and I can't get rid of them. I have no idea where they are coming from or why they are even here! My house is clean and there's nothing they could possibly want. There's literally millions of them. Every corner of every wall is infested. I've been spraying, bombing, killing them left and right and an hour later I'm right back to where I started. I go to sleep at night thinking I've gotten them all and I wake up the next day and it's twice as bad! What can I really do to get rid of these disgusting things? I'm sick of putting a drink on the table for a minute to find three or four dead in it and I'm definitly sick of them flying in my face! HELP?!

  1. Eeek that sounds bad!  You may need to call an exterminator if it is a true infestation.  One thing you can try though"

To get rid of flies and gnats, get a jar, put an old banana peel or some other "goodies" in it, then roll up a piece of paper into a funnel and stick it into the jar. Insects go in, but seem to have difficulty getting out.

  2. I actually just asked my daughter this exact same question Sunday and she told me to put a cup in every area affected, fill it with half water & half vinegar. She said they will try to get into the vinegar since it attracts them & they will then drown.

She has guaranteed me they work every single time. She said any type of vinegar works EXCEPT balsamic.

  3. probably are fungus gnats (if they have some size to them maybe drain flies)   check the potted plants with a flashlight, you will see the gnats crawling on top of the soil if that is them. Fungus gnats will live down in the soil so that area would needed to be addressed and there are several things you can do including just re-potting the plants into clean soil and watch out much watering is done in the future.

Vinegar can be used full strength..wine too, to attract them but you are only catching the gnats that have left the original source, not really addressing the problem. They won't help your situation other than being able to tell what part of the house has the largest population.
