How to get rid of unwanted sound on computer

i am not sure how to word this. every now and then while working on my computer, unwanted ads pop up. not the ones you can see but only hear. how do you get rid of. help!!!!!

OK this are sooo annoying. When you are surfing, there are ads that do "talk" and play music, usually you have to look up and down the page you are on to find the on/off volume button. It also could look like a pause/play button. Just click it. However, the ad will start up again if you leave the page and come back. I usually lower my volume if I don't need it, hope this helps!

Not all have this but when I get a sound pop ups there is usually a button at one of the corners of the pop up that lets you mute the sound (not always)

jst block them

control panel > Hardware and Sound >

and under "Sound"

click "Adjust System volumen"

and there you can mute just one application and not all of them.

Remmeber this is for vista if ur using XP well do the same I guess lol

EDIT: you can sure mute all of them too lol or just 1 or 2 or which ever you want xD
