Ok, I bought a grabit s***w extractor because I had a stripped s***w. It worked perfectly. Only problem was the stripped s***w is stuck inside the exctractor bit. How can I get it out of the extractor???

Please help. I just bought the bits. I don't want to toss it.

  1. grip the s***w in vise grips or pliers and twist it out with another pair ,,,remember righty loosey -lefty tighty  ......yes backwards...................tom

  2. Set the extractor so it turns clockwise on the s***w (opposite of how it came out) while holding each side with pliers.

You may also try to get an old piece of wood and try to s***w the s***w into that and then just pull away.

    Sure hope that helps!

  3. The Grabit extractors bore into the s***w. So, your extractor is actually stuck in the s***w, not the other way around with the s***w stuck in the extractor - yes??

Do you have a vise? or some vice grips? or a friend with strong hands and a pair of pliers? You need to grab that s***w, either in the vice or with the vice grips or have someone hold it and then apply a wrench to the Grabit and turn it clock-wise, which will back the Grabit out.

A vice would be best, if you have one. With the s***w in the vice and the Grabit sticking up out of it, apply some heat to the s***w (to the s***w and not the Grabit) - with a soldering iron, silvered with solder, or with a Bernzamatic torch or even an oxy-acetylene if you have it. Squirt some Liquid Wrench or WD-40 in there and even give the Grabit a sharp tap with a hammer in hopes of dislodging it from it's dug-in position. Then, after all that, turn the Grabit Clock-wise and it should back out.

  4. Since you turned the extractor counter-clockwise to remove the s***w, hold the s***w and turn the extractor clockwise.

  5. Is the extractor metal? If not, try a strong magnet. If it is, try gluing a toothpick or something else disposable to the end of the s***w, and see if that works. If all else fails, call the company and complain, I did that when my wood burner/etcher tip broke off the first time it heated up, and they sent me not only a new kit, but the upgraded deluxe version that was twice the price of the first one. Good luck!

  6. get a pair of plyers and hold the s***w with the plyers and the drill in your other hand, and apply some heavy elbow grease and pull out the s***w.
